Solitude in New York
St. Paul's Chapel of Trinity Church and One World Trade Center
In the summer of 2016, I spent a few days in New York with my family. I photographed different things and came back
home with a lot of images. While most of them represented a timeline of our stay, a few photographs felt a bit off.
It was not apparent right away. Captured in different light and conditions, they blended with other images from that
trip. I revisited the collection many times before suddenly discovered the pattern. The distinction became self-evident once
I converted the set to black and white.
Disconnected by different color palettes, individual images got united by the same concept in monochrome. Simplicity and
isolation from the ubiquitous noise of the city created an impression of another reality. New York without the buzz of the
crowd.
